Anthropic Explores $6 Billion Decart Acquisition for AI Efficiency

Artificial intelligence leader Anthropic PBC is reportedly in talks to acquire startup Decart AI for approximately $6 billion, according to people familiar with the matter. This potential acquisition, which has not yet been finalized and could still fall through, would represent Anthropic's largest known deal as it prepares for a potential initial public offering. Decart's technology focuses on improving the efficiency of AI chips, which could significantly reduce the cost of training AI models and allow Anthropic to better manage increasing demand for its services. The move aligns with major AI players' substantial investments in computing power and data centers necessary for cutting-edge AI development.

Decart, founded in 2023, raised $300 million in May, valuing the company at nearly $4 billion. Its software aims to lower training costs by making chips more efficient. The acquisition would allow Anthropic's infrastructure to absorb greater demand and support its development of new products. Decart's team, specializing in generative video and world models, would reportedly join Anthropic's inference and performance organization.
