oil supply and geopolitical risk
A war in the Middle East has caused gas prices to go up in over 145 countries around the world. Investors watch this because higher gas prices make everyday life more expensive and can slow down the whole economy.
What changed
Petrol prices have spiked globally following six months of military conflict involving Iran, the US, and Israel.
Who wins / who loses
Upstream oil producers and refiners benefit from higher margins, while consumers, airlines, and logistics companies absorb increased fuel costs.

- Monitor local utility and public transit costs for sympathetic increases.
What would break this thesis
- A rapid diplomatic resolution or ceasefire easing Middle East supply concerns.
- Significant demand destruction leading to an unexpected glut in global crude inventories.
