Two Filipino sailors died following an incident involving a Saudi-owned supertanker in the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia reported. The kingdom accused Iran of the attack on the vessel Sidr. Maritime security firms Marisks and Kpler indicated that the Sidr, carrying two million barrels of Saudi crude oil, was struck by unknown projectiles. A South Korean-owned supertanker, Senegal Prosperity, was also reportedly hit in the vicinity. Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps stated that two oil tankers caught fire after striking mines, allegedly at the urging of the U.S. military. The incident occurs amidst heightened tensions in the region, with the U.S. military having previously conducted air strikes on Iran and Iranian forces targeting U.S. bases.
