The sector is also helping set new industry standards, making NEVs one of the most visible symbols of Chinese manufacturing. As China enters the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30) and looks toward its 2035 modernization goals, a research team from People's Daily and China Automotive News examined how the country can sustain high-quality growth in the NEV sector and strengthen its competitive edge in the global market. Confidence & best fit

low confidence · Active trader

Low confidence → prefer ETFs and “Watch,” not rushing into one stock.

Quick glossary: Watch = track, don’t buy yet · Build slowly = only if it fits your plan · Protect = reduce risk · ETF = a basket of stocks (often safer than one company)
Safer theme exposure (ETFs)

Baskets that own the theme without betting on one company.

  • $FXI A simple way to invest in a basket of large Chinese companies without picking a single stock.
  • $MCHI A broad fund covering many different Chinese businesses across various industries.
Single stocks (higher risk)

Primary = closest to the story · Peers = same industry · Second-order = knock-on effects · Avoid = looks related but may be a trap

Primary

  • $ASHRWatch — track, don’t rush

An exchange-traded fund that tracks Chinese stocks, useful for watching overall market sentiment.

Peer

  • $KWEBWatch — track, don’t rush
