merger arbitrage and consolidation

Two companies agreed to join forces, but another interested buyer has stepped in with a competing offer. This matters because investors are watching to see if a bidding war will drive the stock prices higher.

What changed

Patrick Industries reaffirmed its merger with LCI Industries following an unsolicited competing acquisition proposal for LCI from Monomoy Capital Partners.

Who wins / who loses

LCI Industries shareholders may benefit from a potential bidding war, while deal arbitrageurs must weigh the risk of higher competing bids versus deal completion certainty.
